Nationale ombudsman
Paul van Vucht is an experienced investigator currently working at De Nationale ombudsman since May 2019, focusing on independent research into citizen complaints concerning government agencies, particularly in the realm of local environmental issues. Prior to this role, Paul served as a legal policy advisor at Sociale Dienst Drechtsteden, providing policy advice and development in the social domain, and held the position of interim board secretary at Wovesto, where Paul offered policy and administrative support during a merger. Paul's background includes working with the PvdA party as both an ombudsman for the Tweede Kamerfractie and a fraction assistant, as well as serving as a legal assistant at de Woningstichting, where initial tasks evolved into the creation of practical privacy policies. Paul obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Dutch Law from Radboud University and holds a gymnasium diploma in Economics and Society from Titus Brandsma Lyceum.

De burger heeft er recht op behoorlijk behandeld te worden door de overheid. En laten we duidelijk zijn: meestal gebeurt dat ook. Dat hoort immers bij de manier waarop we vanuit onze eigen normen en waarden als samenleving onze overheid hebben ingericht. Maar het lukt niet altijd. En dan is het goed dat de burger die zich benadeeld of onrechtvaardig behandeld voelt, voor bescherming terecht kan bij een onafhankelijk instituut. Dit instituut is de Nationale ombudsman. De Nationale ombudsman levert daadkrachtig een bijdrage aan het herstel van vertrouwen in de overheid. Hij doet dit door continu in gesprek te zijn met maatschappelijke organisaties en volksvertegenwoordigers en door proactief problemen te signaleren. En misschien nog wel belangrijker: door er effectief iets aan te doen. Door zijn kennis te delen met overheidsinstanties, onderzoek te starten of mensen écht te helpen bij onnodige bureaucratie.
