Marc Damen

Marc Damen currently serves as Directeur at Nationale Vereniging de Zonnebloem, the largest volunteer organization in the Netherlands, since 2017. Previously, Marc held significant leadership positions including CEO of Rotterdam Zoo from 2008 to 2016, where responsibilities encompassed daily management, long-term strategy, and financial oversight. In addition, Marc served as Algemeen Directeur at Diergaarde Blijdorp and Director at Zodiac Zoos, which experienced growth under Marc's leadership. Early career roles included Curator of Mammals at Burgers' Zoo and Deputy Director at Monde Sauvage Safari, along with a scientific position at the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria. Marc completed a Master of Science in Animal Husbandry at Wageningen University & Research and has furthered professional development with various training programs.
