A Native Foodways cook prepares simple food fast and well. You may work on several orders at once to get the food out as quickly as possible to customers. You apply food safety and hygiene techniques to maintain a clean kitchen and ensure the freshness and quality of ingredients.
A Native Foodways baker is responsible for making native bread, cakes, and pastry items. Bakers begin work early in the morning, and must be efficient, and organised with good time-management skills. Understanding and following food health and safety rules is crucial, in addition to knowing various baking techniques and methods.
Leading cost and inventory control measures to minimise food wastage and spoilage. Ensuring excellence of menu delivery to ensure the highest standards of quality. Preparing menus and considering clients' choice and selection where appropriate. Monitoring and complying with Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental practices. Keeping up with trends in cooking and the restaurant business to ensure that guests have a positive experience. Preparing, mixing, cutting and shaping dough ready for baking. Preparing sweet and savoury pastry and dough fillings, rolling out pastry and creating a variety of baked goods. Monitoring proving, cooking and cooling times, in addition to ensuring the appearance of items is consistent.
You'll be supported to complete a Food Handler Course and Commercial Cookery or Baking Course.

Salary range for this role is $65,000 to $80,000 plus super., pro-rata.
