Merel Soons

Merel Soons is currently a Full Professor of Land Use and Biodiversity at Utrecht University, focusing on the interaction between land use change and biodiversity conservation. They serve as Chair of the Biodiversity Council and are a key contact for the Dutch Delta Plan for Biodiversity Recovery. Additionally, Merel is an Advisory Committee Member for the Dutch National Parks and Board Vice President at Natuurmonumenten, and previously held a role on the Supervisory Board of IUCN NL. They earned a Master of Science in Environmental Biology from Utrecht University.
