Ben Schaefer has a diverse background in communications and public affairs. Ben is currently working as a Strategic Communications Manager at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC). Prior to this, they served as a Communications Strategist and later as a Media Strategist at the New York Civil Liberties Union from September 2019 to July 2022. Before that, they worked as an Associate Account Executive and Account Coordinator at BerlinRosen from August 2017 to July 2019. Ben also gained experience as a Public Affairs Trainee at Kivvit from June 2016 to June 2017. Earlier in their career, they held positions as a Press and Communications Intern at the City of Chicago from September 2015 to January 2016 and as an Editorial Intern at Imagination Publishing from June 2015 to August 2015.
Ben Schaefer attended Lyons Township High School from 2009 to 2013, where they obtained their High School diploma. Ben then went on to Northwestern University, where they studied Journalism and Political Science from 2013 to 2017. In 2016, they attended Stellenbosch University for a brief period to study Public Health and Development.
