Leyi Chen

Advocacy Associate at Natural Resources Defense Council

Leyi Chen is currently a Program Assistant at the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) since March 2022, following a role as a Research Assistant focused on data visualization for a carbon sequestration project with June Sekera PhD. Leyi's experience includes GIS mapping and research with the U.S. Forest Service, where a toolkit for Indigenous culture and territory was developed, and conducting transportation research at Stony Brook University addressing quality of life discrepancies through spatial analysis. Previous roles include Channel Manager for Solve Climate By 2030, Graphic Designer for iCREATE, Program Assistant at Gracie Mansion Conservancy, Resource Conservation Intern at the Environmental Studies Academy, and Visitor Service Representative at the American Museum of Natural History. Leyi holds a Master of Science in Environmental Policy and Sustainability Management from The New School's Milano School and a degree in Sustainability Studies and Environmental Design, Planning & Policy from Stony Brook University.
