Jian-Feng Shi

Jian-Feng Shi, PhD, P.Eng, PMP, is a seasoned expert in machine vision and artificial intelligence, currently serving as a Project Lead at MDA since February 2019, overseeing multiple research and development projects, including space-qualified AI systems and machine vision advancements. Prior to this, Jian-Feng held various roles at MDA, including Project Engineering and Sr. GNC Engineer, where responsibilities encompassed project management for the Canadarm3 program and architectural design for AI software in the Canadian Space Station Program. Additionally, Jian-Feng has contributed to academia as an instructor for machine learning and orbital mechanics courses and has served on various committees, including the SMART-ART committee at NSERC and as Vice Chair of AIAA SARTC. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Aerospace Engineering from Carleton University and a Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Toronto.
