Jerome Staal is an accomplished researcher and editor with extensive experience in the field of neuroscience. Currently serving as an Associate Editor at Nature Research since December 2017, Jerome enhances the publication process for Nature Communications. As a NHMRC CJ Martin Research Fellow at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, research focuses on the role of the phagocytic receptor MerTK in brain development and disease, particularly its implications in multiple sclerosis. Past positions include Research Fellow at Children's National Health System and NHMRC CJ Martin Research Fellow at The National Institutes of Health, along with earlier roles as an International Medical Team Co-ordinator and Post-doctoral Research Fellow. Jerome earned a PhD in Neuroscience and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience and Biochemistry from the University of Tasmania.
