Mike Saunders

Mike Saunders has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of science and innovation. Mike currently holds the position of Vice President of Science and Innovation at NSP since February 2022. Prior to this, they worked as the Director of Product Development at Brilliant Science from June 2020 to December 2021.

From 2016 to 2020, Mike worked at Unicity International, where they held the roles of Director of Research and Development and Principal Formulation Scientist. Mike'sresponsibilities included the formulation of new health and wellness products, overseeing production on a large scale, and preparing lab-scale batches.

Before that, Mike worked as a Project Chemist at Jacobs Technology from August 2015 to August 2016, where they were a subject matter expert in organic synthesis and provided training on CWA, HME, and drug chemistry to military groups. Mike also developed synthetic routes to compounds of interest.

Additionally, Mike worked as a Process Scientist at AMPAC from January to August 2015, conducting process research and development and executing large-scale synthetic routes for drug products and API.

Prior to that, they worked as a Forensic Scientist II at the State of Utah from August 2012 to January 2015, analyzing unknown compounds for controlled substances or poisons, conducting crime scene analysis, and maintaining instrumentation.

Earlier in their career, Mike held positions such as Scientist I at SuperGen Inc./Astex Pharmaceuticals from August 2009 to June 2012, Research Associate II at Myriad Pharmaceuticals from December 2005 to August 2009, and Senior Associate Scientist (Process Development) at Pfizer Global Research and Development from October 2003 to December 2005.

Mike's educational background includes being a graduate student at the University of California from August 2001 to July 2003, where they focused on the synthesis of heterocycles for studying nucleic acid small molecule interactions and gained expertise in various analytical techniques.

Mike Saunders earned their M.S. in Organic Chemistry from UC San Diego, completing their studies from 2001 to 2003.
