Tara Cornelisse, PhD, is an accomplished invertebrate zoologist currently serving at NatureServe since July 2023. With a robust background in both academia and conservation, Tara has held positions including Community Stewardship Manager at LandPaths and Senior Scientist at the Center for Biological Diversity. Previous academic roles include Assistant Professor at Canisius College and Adjunct Assistant Professor at Macaulay Honors College, where Tara taught various courses focusing on ecology and conservation. Notably, Tara’s editorial and postdoctoral fellowship at the American Museum of Natural History involved editing and curating educational materials in conservation. Tara's educational credentials include a PhD in Environmental Studies and an MA from the University of California, Santa Cruz, as well as a Master's in Conservation Biology from San Francisco State University and a Bachelor's degree in Ecology and Conservation Biology from Boston University.
