James Coughlan

James Coughlan is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in risk management and wealth banking. Currently serving as the Head of Planning & Delivery for Wealth Banking & Lending at Coutts since January 2024, James has previously held various leadership roles at NatWest Group, including oversight of risk functions and transformation initiatives. Notable past positions include the Head of Services & Functions Risk at RBS and leading the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP). James's career also includes significant roles at ANZ in Papua New Guinea, focusing on financial institutions and government relationships. Academic qualifications include a Master's in Applied Finance from QUT and a Professional Certificate in Management from Melbourne Business School. In addition, James is pursuing affiliation with The Chartered Banker Institute and has completed the Sustainability Leadership Programme at the University of Cambridge.
