Maria Carvalho is an experienced professional in climate economics and policy, currently serving as the Head of Climate Economics and Data at NatWest Group since March 2022. Prior to this role, Maria was the Head of Public Affairs at South Pole, where efforts were focused on advancing practical transformations to achieve Paris climate goals. Other notable positions include Senior Consultant in Climate Policy and Carbon Pricing, Senior Management Consultant at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and co-founder of Black Cili, an initiative for making academic research accessible through animation and infographics. Educationally, Maria holds a Ph.D. in Geography and Environment from LSE, an MSc in Environmental Policy and Regulation from LSE, and a BA in Economics and Development from Queen's University, in addition to an international exchange year at the University of Edinburgh.
