Carrier Engineering Team (cet) Technical Authority Supervisory Director at Naval Sea Systems Command

Paul John Russo has extensive work experience in the naval engineering field. Paul John started their career in 1978 as a Submarine Officer in the United States Navy, serving for 28 years until 2006. From 2006 to 2011, they worked as a Systems Engineer at BAE Systems, providing on-site support to Naval Sea Systems Command. In 2011, they joined Naval Sea Systems Command (SEA 05V3) as the Deputy CVN 78 Ship Design Manager, responsible for providing technical oversight and developing design reviews for the CVN 78 aircraft carrier acquisition program. From 2013 to 2020, they served as the Ship Design Manager for the CVN 78 Aircraft Carrier Acquisition Program, leading the technical and design engineering efforts for the program. Most recently, in 2020, they became the Division Director for Aircraft Carrier (CVN) Systems Engineering Technical Authorities at Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA), where they oversee the Carrier Engineering Team's technical authority responsibilities. With their experience and expertise, Paul has been instrumental in applying aircraft carrier design and systems engineering practices to numerous shipbuilding programs, maintenance, and major modernizations in the US Navy.

Paul John Russo earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the United States Naval Academy, completing their studies from 1974 to 1978. Paul John later pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Information Technology Management from the Naval Postgraduate School between 1992 and 1994. Additionally, Russo obtained a Project Management Professional certification from the Project Management Institute in October 2012.
