Hamza Nishtar's work experience starts in 2018, where they worked as a Research Assistant at APPRISE. In this role, they conducted telephone interviews on behalf of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and a Pennsylvanian utility, prepared executive summaries visualizing state-level implementations of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), and cleaned and presented quantitative data using Stata and Microsoft Excel.
In 2018, Hamza also worked as a Research Assistant at Rutgers Energy Institute, focusing on energy economics.
In 2021, Hamza joined DC Green Bank as a Sustainability Intern. During this time, they conducted a comprehensive analysis of the bank's legislative mandate, governance structure, investment portfolio, and environmental performance. Hamza also drafted plain language educational materials for property developers and building owners, compiled federal and District of Columbia laws, regulations, and incentive programs related to sustainable measures, and compiled U.S. and international benchmarking data on renewable energy, energy efficiency, and climate finance.
From June to July 2022, Hamza worked as an Intern in Infrastructure Investments and Labor & Government Strategies at GCM Grosvenor.
Starting in September 2022, Hamza joined the U.S. Department of State as an Energy Governance and Access Intern in the Bureau of Energy Resources.
Currently, Hamza works as a Business Analyst at Navarro Research and Engineering, supporting the Energy Improvements in Rural or Remote Areas (ERA) program, which is funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
Hamza Nishtar attended Princeton High School from 2014 to 2018. Following that, they enrolled at Rutgers University–New Brunswick in 2018 and continued their studies in the field of Economics. In 2019, they transferred to Georgetown University and completed their Bachelor's degree in Economics from there in 2022. Apart from their formal education, Hamza also obtained a certification in IGx: Inclusive Growth from the International Monetary Fund in July 2021.
