James Ota

James Ota is the Contracts Officer and Controller at Martin Defense Group. As head of the Contracts department, James oversees the execution of all contracts and subcontracts for the company as well as the tracking of project budgets and export control compliance. As head of the Accounting department, James monitors the accuracy of the company’s financial records, manages it cash flow, and is responsible for maintaining the company’s regulatory compliance in matters such as tax and insurance.

James has 15+ years of professional experience working as a tax attorney at Chun Kerr and a certified public accountant at Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Accuity doing tax and consultation work.

James was born and raised in Hawaii and received a Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Accounting, and Juris Doctorate from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. James is fluent in Japanese.
