Aleksandrs Purins has been working in the medical field since 2020. Aleksandrs started as a Medical Technologist at Quest Diagnostics, and then moved to the role of Clinical Laboratory Technician at NAVERIS in 2021. In 2019, they were a Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut Department of Psychology, where they worked with Dr. Rober Astur's Human BNS Lab research team to investigate the behavioral effects of nicotine on the human rewards system, attention and approach biases in heavy pornography and video game users, and the rewards systems of abuse victims. Aleksandrs was primarily responsible for experimental protocol in a laboratory setting and collecting and summarizing findings. From 2016 to 2017, they worked as a Summer Camp Counselor at the Garezers Latvian language camp, where they were tasked with creating and leading organized activities for children ages 5-11. In 2017, they took on the role of Marketing and Communications Assistant at AERODIUM, where they worked with advertising and promotion managers to help produce digital and print marketing materials for both commercial and private vertical wind tunnels. Aleksandrs also edited written content on the company's website and ensured training manuals and company resources were appropriate for English speaking audiences.
Aleksandrs Purins attended Dover-Sherborn High School from 2012 to 2016, where they obtained their GED. Aleksandrs then attended the University of Connecticut from 2016 to 2020, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Neurobiology. In 2019, they participated in a program at Universidad de Salamanca. Aleksandrs is currently enrolled in a Master's program at Boston University, where they are studying Health Communication, and is expected to graduate in 2024.
