David Fields

As President & CEO, David Fields provides enterprise leadership and strategic direction for Navitus to drive its steady growth. He is responsible for external relationships such as industry thought-leader engagement, media interaction, and potential and current client strategies and support. In collaboration with the Navitus Executive Management Team, David maintains Navitus’ strategic plan, and develops and directs the execution of its goals and policies. Prior to joining Navitus, David served as Executive Vice President—Markets for Blue Shield of California. He also served as an executive with Aetna, Coventry, Anthem, and Humana. David began his career as a CPA, providing auditing services for publicly traded hospital and insurance clients. At Humana, he oversaw a health plan that included a 110-physician, multi-specialty group practice. David’s career progressed with increasing executive responsibilities, eventually overseeing a nearly $20 billion, 4-million member non-profit health plan at Blue Shield of California. He served on a number of boards, including the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, Labor-Management Council, and the National Conference of Christians and Jews. David earned an undergraduate accounting degree from the University of Louisville and Executive Education from Duke University and Harvard University.
