Zhanibek Kozhirbayev

Zhanibek Kozhirbayev, PhD, serves as a Senior Researcher at the National Laboratory Astana, Nazarbayev University, specializing in natural language processing (NLP) and speech recognition for the Kazakh language since October 2015. Key expertise includes leading research initiatives and utilizing frameworks such as Kaldi, ESPnet, Fairseq, and NeMo for speech recognition, data collection, and model fine-tuning. Previously, Zhanibek held the role of Senior Data Scientist at TengriLab, focusing on automatic speech recognition and speaker verification systems. Educational qualifications include a Master's Degree in Information Technology from the University of Melbourne and a PhD in Computer Science from L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, complementing a foundational Bachelor's degree in Computing Science and Software.
