Gerri Mattson

Gerri Mattson, MD has a diverse work experience in the healthcare field. Gerri is currently serving as the Senior Medical Director at the NC Department of Health and Human Services since March 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at the NC Division of Public Health from March 2005 to June 2022 as a Pediatric Medical Consultant, providing expertise and support for various health programs. Before that, they served as a Pediatrician in Private Practice at ABC Pediatrics from September 1999 to August 2005. Gerri started their career as a Commissioned Corps Medical Officer in the US Public Health Service at the Northern Navajo Medical Center from July 1996 to July 1999, providing inpatient and outpatient care.

Dr. Gerri Mattson received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology, General from the University of Virginia in 1989. Gerri then went on to earn a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 1993. Dr. Mattson completed their Internship and Residency in Pediatrics at Emory University School of Medicine from 1993 to 1996. Later, they obtained a Master's of Science in Public Health with a focus on Maternal and Child Health from the University of North Carolina Gillings School of Global Public Health between 2000 and 2004. Additionally, Dr. Mattson holds a Maintenance of Certification from the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), which was obtained in December 1996.
