Kurt Golembesky

Engineer III at NCDOT

Kurt Golembesky, PE, CFM, is an experienced water resources engineer currently serving as Engineer III at NCDOT since June 2022, where responsibilities include developing flood warning tools in collaboration with public and private stakeholders. Previous roles include Senior Water Resources Engineer at RTI International, focusing on downstream dam consequence studies, and Engineer-Advanced at the North Carolina Flood Mapping Program, providing technical guidance for floodplain map maintenance across 44 counties. Kurt also held the position of Senior Water Resources Engineer at Brown and Caldwell, managing various water resource projects, and started as an Engineering Intern at Entech Engineering. Kurt's background includes volunteer work with the Peace Corps in Mali, where water education was a focus. Kurt holds a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Water Resources, from North Carolina State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder.
