William Wilson

Dr. William W. Wilson is a Distinguished Professor at North Dakota State University in Agribusiness and Applied Economics with periodic sabbaticals at Stanford University. He is routinely recognized as one of the top Agricultural Economists in the world. Dr. Wilson focuses on risk and strategy in agriculture and agribusiness, with a specialty in agtechnology development and commercialization, procurement, transportation/logistics, and international marketing and competition.

Dr. Wilson’s work is highly international: he is a visiting scholar at Melbourne University and, globally, regularly advises major agribusiness firms, food and beverage companies, railroads and governments on agtechnology, logistics, procurement, transport (land and water), elevators and processed products. In the early 1990s, Dr. Wilson led a project for the United States on privatization of the grain marketing system in Russia. He served as a Board member of the Minneapolis Grain Exchange for 12 years, on the FGIS Advisory Board, and currently serves on numerous private boards. He is also the CHS Chair in Risk Management and Trading, an endowed position at NDSU.

Dr. Wilson received his Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Manitoba.
