Derek Gormin

Director at NCSY

Derek Gormin has been working in the Jewish community for over 10 years. Derek started as a director of education for the Jewish Student Union, where they helped establish Jewish clubs in public high schools across North America. Derek then went on to work for NCSY, where they are currently the director.

Gormin is passionate about helping Jewish teens connect with their heritage and develop a strong Jewish identity. Derek believes that the Jewish Student Union and NCSY are invaluable tools for fostering a sense of Jewish community among public school students. Derek has worked hard to lower the barriers to participation in these organizations, so that all Jewish teens can benefit from their programs.

Gormin is a highly effective leader and educator, with a proven track record of success in engaging and inspiring Jewish teens. Derek is dedicated to their work and committed to helping Jewish teens thrive.

Derek Gormin has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from UC Irvine. Derek is also a certified rabbi, having studied Jewish law at Yeshiva Pirchei Shoshanim under Rabbi Leibe Landsman. Derek has also spent a semester abroad studying international relations at Yonsei University. In addition to their academic credentials, Derek is also certified in digital marketing from Google Digital Garage.

Their manager is Moshe Benovitz, Managing Director. They are on a team with Oran Bendelstein - Director of Chessed & Program Development Relief Missions, Chaim Neiditch - Director, and Yoni Colman - Director of Leadership Development.
