Kirk Laughlin has a long and varied career in media and technology. Kirk started their career in 1993 as an Editor and Writer for a freelance consortium in Fukuoka, Japan. In 1997, they became Editor-in-Chief for Cygnus Business Media and in 2000, they became Editor in Chief for America's Network Magazine. In 2004, they joined Ziff Davis Enterprise as Managing Director/ VP of Live Events, Senior Editorial Director, Custom Media, managing a $8 million annual global live conference and event marketing services business. In 2008, they founded Next Coast Media, providing consulting services for technology marketers, btob media brands and creative agencies. That same year, they also became a Contributing Editor/ InformationWeek for UBM TechWeb. In 2009, they founded Nearshore Americas, the definitive authority on knowledge service exports across the Caribbean and North, Central and South America. In 2010, they founded Nearshore Nexus, the leading conference for the Nearshore services industry. In 2016, they founded Sourcing Decisions, an annual conference meant specifically for the enterprise decision-maker.
Kirk Laughlin received their Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications from Virginia Commonwealth University between 1983 and 1987. Kirk then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison Graduate School of Southeast Asian Studies from 1998 to 1999, though they did not receive a degree from this institution.
