Akihiro Motoki has extensive work experience in the software engineering field. Akihiro started their career in 1998 as a Hardware Development Engineer at NEC Corporation, where they worked on developing network equipment and devices. This involved various areas such as packet switching, QoS classification, and anti-spam systems. Akihiro then transitioned to being a Senior Researcher from 2005 to 2011. In 2011, Akihiro became a Senior Software Engineer at NEC Corporation, working on OpenStack upstream development and leading the upstream development team. Akihiro mainly focused on Networking, Dashboard, and CLI projects. In addition to this, they also worked as a cloud architect for OpenStack deployments and managed OpenStack-based private clouds with multiple regions and servers. Akihiro joined OpenStack in 2012, where they served as a Horizon Core Reviewer and a Neutron Core Reviewer, contributing to the review process of the projects. Since April 2018, they hold the role of Principal Software Engineer at NEC Corporation, leading open source upstream development teams in Japan and India, with a focus on cloud computing and container technologies.
Akihiro Motoki earned a Master of Engineering degree in Information and Communication Engineering from The University of Tokyo, studying from 1992 to 1998.
