Richard James Flaherty has a diverse work experience in the financial sector. Richard James started their career at Northern Foods in 2005, where they worked as a Senior Accounts Payable Administrator, managing supplier accounts and facilitating payments. Richard James later joined Lloyds Bank in 2007, initially as a Senior Operations Assistant at Halifax Share Dealing Limited, where they gained extensive knowledge of settlement procedures and cross-border links. Richard James then transitioned to the role of a Business MI Analyst, responsible for data quality measurement and reporting. In 2013, they became a Credit Analyst, specializing in natural resources, including oil and gas. In this role, they conducted credit assessments, prepared reports for sanctioning officials, and analyzed financial statements to identify strengths and risks. Finally, in 2016, they joined Nedbank as the Principal (Director) of Oil & Gas Finance.

Richard James Flaherty attended Silcoates School from 1995 to 2002, where they studied Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and French. From 2002 to 2005, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Mathematics and Physics at the University of Warwick.
