Kai-Wen Liang is currently an Engineering Lead at Need Inc., having previously held the position of Staff Software Engineer and Engineering Manager at Google from 2017 to 2024. They contributed significantly to research at both National Taiwan University, where they developed a statistical framework for modeling gene relationships in glioblastoma, and Carnegie Mellon University, where they created algorithms for causal relationship extraction and gene expression prediction. Kai-Wen also served as a Teaching Assistant at Academia Sinica and was a Second Lieutenant in the Republic of China Navy, focusing on building team cohesion. They earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Master’s Degree in Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
