Varun Tulsian

Varun Tulsian has a diverse work experience in the field of data science and engineering. Varun currently serves as the Head of ML at Needl.ai. Previously, they worked at Walmart Global Tech India as a Senior Manager Data Science I and Staff Data Scientist/Data Science Manager. In these roles, they led teams and implemented content-based recommendation solutions using deep learning techniques, provided AI-driven insights to Marketplace Sellers, and developed algorithms to enhance product attribute understanding and ranking in search. Varun also worked at Sensara Technologies as a Staff Data Scientist/Engineer, where they built a real-time personalization engine and powered personalized content for the Sensy app. Prior to that, Varun worked at @WalmartLabs India as a Staff Software Engineer and Senior Software Engineer, focusing on search relevance and ranking problems. Varun also has experience as a Software Engineer at Microsoft Research India, where they conducted research and developed a tool using machine learning techniques.

Varun Tulsian completed their Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Computer Science from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) from 2011 to 2013. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) degree in Information Technology from Heritage Institute of Technology Kolkata, from 2007 to 2011. Varun also completed their 12th grade education at CBSE Birla High School in 2007, and their 10th grade education at S. D. Nopany Vidyalaya in an unspecified year. Additionally, they have also pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Indian Institute of Science (IISc).
