Anita Sowers has extensive work experience in the healthcare and social services fields. Anita started their career in 1984 at the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center, where they held multiple roles over a span of 26 years, including Case Manager, Community Support Services Coordinator, Residential Program Coordinator, and Manager.

In 2010, Anita joined Chrysalis Center, Inc. as a Clinical Support Services Manager. Anita was responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of the Residential Community Support Services and the newly created CSP/RP service model. Anita'smost recent role was at Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, where they started in 2017 as a Lead Care Manager and later became the Manager of Care Management for the Nursing Home Team.
