Jason Barnard

Jason Barnard has a strong background in finance and accounting. Jason started their professional journey as a Senior Accountant at Walmart.com in 2006. Here, they partnered with the business on strategic initiatives and improved reporting and valuation of inventory. Jason also had responsibility for the month-end close process for COGS lines and Balance Sheet reconciliations.

In 2009, Jason joined Blackhawk Network as the Director of Financial Reporting. In this role, they led the External Reporting and Accounting Policy group and acted as the primary liaison with external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews. Jason managed a team of four members and was responsible for financial statement preparation, stock-based compensation, and developing accounting policies for new transactions.

Currently, Jason is employed at Nektar Therapeutics. Jason initially served as the Director of Accounting from October 2016 to September 2019. Later, they advanced to the position of Senior Director of Accounting from October 2019 to June 2020. Subsequently, they assumed the role of Executive Director and Corporate Controller from July 2020 to December 2022. Since January 2023, Jason has been serving as the Vice President and Corporate Controller at Nektar Therapeutics.

Jason Barnard completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics and Classical Languages at the University of California, Berkeley from 1999 to 2002. Jason then pursued a Master of Science degree in Accountancy at Golden Gate University, which they completed from 2004 to 2007. In addition to their formal education, Jason Barnard obtained the certification of Certified Public Accountant from the California Board of Accountancy.
