Sameer Al Khawaja, PhD, MInstP

Lead Sensor Scientist at Nemaura Pharma

Sameer Al Khawaja, PhD, MInstP has extensive experience in the field of sensor science. Sameer started their career in 2000 as a Researcher of Materials Characterisation at the AEC of Syria, where they undertook research projects on superconducting, semiconducting and insulating thin films, as well as investigated nano-structured devices for sensor applications. In 2006, they moved to the Centre for Energy Research/ Damascus as a Principal Scientist. In 2014, they took on the role of Visiting Academic/Research Fellow and Research Fellow at Loughborough University. In 2017, they joined the Advanced Technology Innovation Centre as a Senior Physicist, and in 2018 they became the Lead Sensor Scientist at NEMAURA PHARMA LIMITED, a role they still hold today.

Sameer Al Khawaja obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Superconducting Quantum Circuits from the University of Sussex between 1996 and 1999. Sameer also obtained their Master of Science (MSc) in Superconducting Materials from the University of Sussex between 1994 and 1995. Their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Combined Physics & Chemistry was obtained from Al-Baath University/Syria between 1985 and 1989.
