Shawn Schaffert

Shawn Schaffert has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of artificial intelligence and robotics. Shawn is currently the VP of Decision Intelligence at Neo Cybernetica since March 2023. Prior to that, they worked for GreyOrange from 2019 to 2023, where they held the position of Director of Artificial Intelligence and Data Science and was responsible for leading the company's AI and Data Science efforts, building a multinational team, and driving product R&D. Before GreyOrange, Shawn co-founded and served as the CTO of Cellar Door Labs LLC from 2015 to 2019, where they developed an AI-powered health data analytics platform and launched related mobile and web applications.

In terms of research experience, Shawn worked as a Research Scientist at MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) from 2017 to 2018. Shawn also worked at Vecna Robotics from 2010 to 2015, where they held multiple roles including Control Systems Group Manager, Robotic Manipulation Group Manager, and Senior Research Scientist. At Vecna Robotics, they led teams focused on control systems, robotic manipulation, and research and development in various areas of robotics.

Furthermore, Shawn has entrepreneurial experience as the Founder of Immediate Analytics from 2008 to 2010, where they designed and developed custom intelligent analytics and software services for clients. Shawn also served as the Director of Technology at EveryLocal LLC from 2006 to 2008, contributing to business strategy and overseeing technology requirements and architecture.

Shawn's educational background includes being a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley from 2001 to 2006, where they worked on algorithm development, robot navigation systems, wireless sensor networks, and mobile sensor network platforms. Shawn also interned as a Research Intern at PARC in 2001, where they researched phase transitions and solvers for Boolean satisfiability problems.

Shawn Schaffert has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Shawn then went on to obtain a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley in 2001. Later, they pursued a Ph.D. in the same field at the University of California, Berkeley, which they completed in 2006.
