Ali Asghar is currently serving as the Energy Market Intelligence Manager and Lead at NEOM since May 2023. Previously, Ali held the position of Head of Asia Pacific Power, Coal & Carbon Markets at BloombergNEF from April 2016 to May 2023, where responsibilities included comprehensive energy market analysis for Australia and the broader Asia Pacific region. Prior to that, Ali was a Senior Associate at Saudi Aramco from January 2012 to April 2016, leading the development of a renewable energy database that supported governmental and private sector initiatives, which was presented at the COP21 climate change summit. Ali's early career included a role as a Research Engineer at Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, focusing on innovative materials for energy technologies and contributing to several journal publications and patents. Ali's educational background features a Master’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering from Masdar Institute, along with certifications in Data Science from The Johns Hopkins University and Engineering Leadership from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
