Irfan Aleem Qureshi

Irfan Aleem Qureshi serves as the Executive Director and Chief Economist at NEOM since September 2022, where responsibilities include leading the planning and implementation of the Economics vision and strategy. Prior to this role, Qureshi held positions such as Chief Technical Advisor/Economist at the Ministry of Economy and Planning from March 2021 to September 2022, and Chief Economist at both the Ministry of Finance in Qatar (November 2018 - August 2020) and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in Qatar (August 2015 - November 2018). Earlier career milestones include serving as Principal Economist at the Islamic Development Bank (December 2007 - July 2015), Lead Economist and Senior Advisor to the Executive Director at the World Bank (April 1985 - November 2007), and Senior Economist/Acting Chief Economist at Shell International Petroleum (1980 - 1985). Qureshi's educational background includes a Ph.D. and M.Phil. in Economics from the University of Oxford, a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Imperial College London, and a degree in Electrical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology.
