Maciej Stepien's work experience begins in 1998 when they worked as a System and ATM admin at Bank Pekao S.A. Maciej then moved on to Accenture in 1999, where they held the role of Senior Consultant in the Financial Services Industry. At Accenture, they were involved in various projects for retail and corporate banks, taking on roles such as analyst, programmer, QA, and team leader.

In 2003, Maciej joined Pentegy as a Partner and Shareholder. Over the course of their time there, they helped grow the company from 12 employees operating locally to 120 employees with three offices across Warsaw, Kiev, and Moscow. Maciej specifically contributed to the development of the consulting department, and was in charge of the business line operating in the financial services industry from 2005 to 2010.

Following their tenure at Pentegy, Maciej became the COO and co-founder of Mastercard Payment Transaction Services Europe in 2008. Maciej was responsible for developing the company's idea, vision, strategy, and business model. In 2012, the company was fully acquired by Mastercard and rebranded.
