Taesu Kim has worked in various roles in the technology industry since 2001. Taesu began as a Research Assistant at KAIST, then moved to LG Electronics as a Senior Research Engineer in 2007. While at LG Electronics, they developed a dual mic noise reduction algorithm which was applied to commercial products. In 2010, they joined Qualcomm as a Sr. Staff Engineer/Manager and was responsible for leading machine learning algorithm for always-on microphone. Taesu developed and commercialized voice activation, sound event detection, audio scene classification, contents recognition/matching, and holds more than 40 US patents including granted and pending. In 2004, they were a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Neural Computation at the University of California at San Diego, where they developed a new algorithm on blind source separation and sound localization. In 2017, they became the CEO of Neosapience (Typecast).
Taesu Kim's education history includes a Ph.D. in Brain Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) from 2003 to 2007, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from KAIST from 2001 to 2003, and a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Hanyang University from 1997 to 2001.
