Kate joined Neptune in 2021 upon the acquisition of Jumpstart, which she founded and continues to lead within Neptune. In her role as President of Parametric Insurance, Kate’s focus is to close critical protection gaps and deploy more private capital toward post-disaster funding.
Kate is a licensed Structural Engineer and a recognized thought leader in the specialty of earthquake engineering. She is a Past President of the Structural Engineers Association of Northern California and a Housner Fellow of the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute. Kate’s experience also includes catastrophe modeling with past roles as the Product Manager for worldwide earthquake models at EQECAT (now CoreLogic) and a Co-Founder of the Global Earthquake Model (GEM) Foundation. Kate holds degrees from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, Stanford University School of Engineering, and the University of Minnesota.
Disaster risk is a daily reality for Kate, who lives less than 200 meters from the Hayward Fault. She is based out of Neptune’s Oakland office.
