Prior to that, they were an Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of California, Berkeley, where they developed chromatography techniques for DNA-gold nanoparticle conjugates.

Winnie Liang, PhD, obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Chemistry from Stanford University, where they studied from 2009 to 2017. Prior to that, they attended the University of California, Berkeley, from 2003 to 2008, attaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemical Biology. Apart from their academic qualifications, Winnie Liang has also pursued additional certifications. In May 2021, they completed the Women's Entrepreneurship program at eCornell. In September 2019, they completed the Inventor 3-Day Course at the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). Additionally, in January 2019, they obtained a certification in Business Writing Strategies from Lynda.com.
