James Foster

James Foster is a seasoned maritime professional with extensive experience spanning over three decades. Currently serving as the Marine Safety Manager for the Natural Environment Research Council since 2015, James supports international marine science initiatives from research ship platforms. Previous roles include Second Officer at P&O Ferries, where responsibilities included serving as the Principal Safety Officer, and multiple leadership positions at Red Funnel Group, including Master and Chief Officer. Educational achievements encompass an HND in Nautical Science from Warsash Maritime Centre and various maritime training credentials. James has also contributed to training and development as a Senior Lecturer at Warsash Maritime Academy and has a background in search and rescue operations with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency.
