Sue Coles has a diverse and extensive work experience. Sue has worked in various roles and industries throughout their career. Sue started their career as a Finance Director at IPSYS Software Plc, where they built systems, designed management reporting, and achieved rapid growth for the company. Sue then joined CNBC as a Financial Director, setting up accounting systems and legal and contractual issues for the cable and satellite channel. Sue also worked as a Finance Director at MIS Corporate Defence Solutions, where they discovered irregularities in the reported turnover and fraudulent activities, ultimately saving the company. Sue gained experience in the charity sector as a Pro bono volunteer at Marie Curie, completing benchmarking studies and reporting findings to the senior management team. Sue then served as a Director of Resources at The Brooke, overseeing finance, human resources, supporter care, legal and governance, and IT departments. At Save the Children International, Sue worked as the Director of Strategic Projects, providing high-level strategic and finance support, managing various projects, and acting as interim cover for the Director of Financial Management. Lastly, Sue Coles is currently the Chief Finance Officer at Nesta, an innovation charity dedicated to supporting ideas that can improve people's lives.

Sue Coles started their education journey in 1979 when they enrolled at The University of Lancaster. Sue completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Accounting and Finance, with a focus on law and systems, in 1982. Following that, in 1982, Sue attended Financial Training for two years to further enhance their knowledge in Accounting and Finance. In 2004, they briefly attended Hult Ashridge to specialize in Organizational Leadership.
