James Schek is a seasoned software engineer with extensive experience in content delivery and application development. Currently a Senior Software Engineer at Netflix since June 2011, James has played a pivotal role in developing the control plane for the Open Connect Content Delivery Network and enhancing streaming infrastructure for millions of customers. Prior to Netflix, James worked as a Senior Application Developer at Esri, Inc., where GIS-driven applications for the Defense Industry were developed, and at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, focusing on applications for homeland security. James began a career in technology at the California Department of Transportation and NTT/Verio. Academically, James holds a B.S. in Computer Science from California State University-Sacramento and furthered education at Stanford University.
