Egbert Smit

Egbert Smit is an experienced professional in the aerospace and defense sector, currently serving as the Director of Marketing & Strategy for Defense at the Netherlands Aerospace Centre since July 2021, where responsibilities include strategic positioning within the Defense and Security market. Prior to this role, Smit was the F-35 Customer Representative for the Netherlands Ministry of Defence from July 2017 to July 2021, facilitating communication between the Dutch government, industry, and Lockheed Martin. Smit's extensive tenure at the Netherlands Aerospace Centre from April 1992 to July 2017 included multiple positions ranging from Senior R&D Manager to Engineer. Earlier in Smit's career, service in the Royal Netherlands Navy from January 1983 to April 1992 involved roles as Petty Officer and Leading Seaman in Electronics. Educational qualifications include a post HBO in Business Administration & Management from Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences and a BSc. in Electronics and Telecommunications from PBNA BV, along with various specialized training programs.
