Héctor Fabio Cadavid Rengifo serves as a Research Software Engineer at the Netherlands eScience Center since December 2022. Previously, Héctor held the position of Assistant Professor at Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería from August 2003 to January 2023, where Héctor led the Software Engineering Group and participated in interdisciplinary research projects. Héctor completed a PhD at the University of Groningen from June 2018 to December 2022 within the Software Engineering and Architecture Research (SEARCH) Group. Additional roles include exam designer for the National Higher Education Quality Examination at Icfes, visiting researcher at the National Institute of Aerospace, project evaluator at Colciencias, and software architecture advisor at IBISCOM. Héctor began a career as a software engineer and Oracle consultant at DB-System. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Computer Software Engineering, a Master's degree in Computer and Systems Engineering, and an undergraduate degree in Computer and Systems Engineering.

The Netherlands eScience Center is the national center of excellence for the development and application of research software to advance academic research. We are convinced that research in every academic discipline can be improved by taking advantage of available digital technology. We take a multidisciplinary approach, combining our deep knowledge of both academic research and software development to help define and solve research challenges. We share our ideas and the tools we develop. Together with a wide range of partner organizations, we advance not just our research projects, but the state of academic research in general. The eScience Center is a joint initiative of the Dutch national research council (NWO) and the Dutch organisation for ICT in education and research (SURF).
