Joey Thompson has an extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Joey started their career in 2000 as a Co-founder at Circadiant Systems, where they played a significant role until 2008. Following this, they co-founded Forefront Analytics, LLC, and served as a Co-founder until 2009. In 2008, Joey joined JDSU as an Engineering Development Director/Strategic Marketing and worked there until 2009.
Moving forward, Joey was associated with Guggenheim Venture Partners/Alara Capital as a Venture Partner and Partner from 2009 to 2012. Simultaneously, they co-founded Erdos3 Capital in 2009 and served as a Co-founder until 2012. Additionally, in 2009, they joined Jacobi Capital Management, LLC as the Director of Research and Analysis and worked there until 2016.
In 2011, Joey took up the role of Director/Executive Chairman at Cogo Optronics, Inc. until 2014 when it was acquired by TeraXion. From 2012 to 2016, they held the position of Chairman at Giga-tronics, and subsequently became the Acting Chief Executive Officer until 2017. Following this, they joined QFT Analytics as a Co-founder in 2013.
Joey's most recent roles include being the COO/CTO at Net Nanny from 2017 to 2018 before transitioning to the position of Chief Executive Officer, which they currently hold.
Joey Thompson has a strong educational background in the field of physics. Joey began their academic journey at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they pursued their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Joey excelled in their studies and graduated summa cum laude in 1986.
Driven by their passion for physics, Joey decided to further their education and enrolled at Stony Brook University. Here, they embarked on a rigorous doctoral program and focused their research on physics. Joey dedicated eight years to their studies, successfully completing their Ph.D. in Physics in 1994.
