David Stanley

Lead Machine Learning Engineer at Neurable

David Stanley has a diverse range of work experience in various roles and industries. David is currently employed at Neurable as the Lead Machine Learning Engineer, a position they have held since May 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Senior Machine Learning Engineer at Neurable, starting in February 2021. Before joining Neurable, David worked as a Machine Learning Engineer for the same company, where they developed supervised and unsupervised models based on neural time series, conducted scientific analysis of neural data, and deployed real-time implementations of models on local devices.

In 2019, David was a Fellow at Insight Data Science, where they developed the MindPocket app for helping students learn new material through spaced repetition and self-quizzing. David used AllenNLP named entity recognition and LSTM model to generate fill-in-the-blank questions from source text.

David also has research experience, having worked as a Research Scientist at Boston University's Cognitive Rhythms Collaborative. In this role, they applied dynamical systems modeling, signal processing, and statistical methods to advance understanding of brain dynamics and cognitive function. David also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Boston University.

In terms of education, David obtained their PhD from the University of Florida, where they were a PhD Candidate from 2009 to 2013. David also holds a Masters degree from the University of Toronto, where they were a Masters Student from 2007 to 2009.

Prior to pursuing their academic and research career, David worked as a Wireless Technology Analyst at Bell and as an Ontario Ranger at the Ministry of Natural Resources.

David Stanley obtained their Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Engineering Science with a Physics Option from the University of Toronto, where they studied from 2002 to 2007. David then pursued a Master of Applied Science (MASc) degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto from 2007 to 2009.

Following their master's degree, David attended the University of Florida from 2009 to 2013, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering.

In addition to their academic degrees, David has also acquired several certifications. David obtained the "Machine Learning - Stanford" certification from Coursera in June 2014. Furthermore, they obtained several certifications from Stanford Online, including "XCS229i - Machine Learning" in September 2021, "XCS229ii - Machine Learning Strategy and Intro to Reinforcement Learning" in December 2021, and "Artificial Intelligence" and "Artificial Intelligence: Machine Learning with Graphs" in April 2022. Lastly, they obtained the "Technology Entrepreneurship Part 2" certification from NovoEd in November 2013.
