Hing (Alex) Lai is a highly experienced engineer specializing in digital design and vector technology for advanced computing systems. Currently serving as the Lead Vector Design Engineer at a RISC-V Stealth Mode Startup since March 2022, Hing leads the development of SIMD for AI chips utilizing RISC-V Vector Extensions. Concurrently, since February 2021, Hing has held the position of Lead LiDAR Digital Design Engineer at Neural Propulsion Systems, Inc., focusing on LIDAR DSP perception systems for autonomous vehicles. Previously, Hing founded Forcz, leading the development of voice and motion control technology, securing four patents, and creating a Tensor Processing Unit. Hing's extensive career includes a significant tenure at Intel Corporation, where accomplishments included leading the design of vector floating point logic for the Knights Landing project, earning multiple awards across various roles in microprocessor and graphics design. Hing holds both a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
