Barrett Allan

Barrett Allan serves as a Distinguished Scientist in Protein Engineering at Neurocrine Biosciences since April 2022. Prior to this role, Barrett held various positions at Eli Lilly and Company from 2004 to 2021, including Senior Research Advisor and Protein Engineering Group Leader, Research Advisor, Principal Scientist, and Senior Research Scientist. Additional experience includes serving as a Senior Scientist at Applied Molecular Evolution from 2000 to 2004, Principal Research Scientist at Roche Molecular Systems from 1999 to 2000, and Post-Doctoral Researcher at Maxygen Inc. from 1998 to 1999. Barrett began a career in research as a Research Assistant at Beckman Research Institute, City of Hope between 1992 and 1993. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry and Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from UC Santa Barbara and a BA in Microbiology from California State University, Los Angeles.
