Dr. Turner is Vice Chair for Clinical Research, Professor of Neurology, and Director of the Memory Disorders Program at Georgetown University. Prior to moving to Washington, DC, he was Chief of the Neurology Service at the VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Neurology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He was awarded Ph.D. and M.D. degrees from Emory University, Atlanta, and completed internship, residency, and fellowship training at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. He is board-certified in psychiatry and neurology.
Dr. Turner has received numerous prestigious awards, including a fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a Paul Beeson Scholarship. He lectures widely at scientific conferences, serves as reviewer for granting agencies and biomedical journals, and has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers, editorials, and chapters. He and his colleagues are directing several federal and foundation-supported research projects to better understand the cause of Alzheimer’s disease and to develop new treatments.
