John Terry

John Terry is the Managing Director at Neuronostics and a Professor of Biomedical Modelling & Director of EPSRC Centre for Predictive Modelling in Healthcare. John has over 20 years of experience in research and academia.

Terry’s work focusses on the development and application of mathematical techniques and approaches for understand the mechanisms responsible for the emergence of physiological rhythms and how these become perturbed and breakdown in disease. John is currently funded by EPSRC, MRC, Wellcome Trust and Epilepsy Research UK.

John has held previous positions at the University of Exeter as the Director of Research (Mathematics & Computer Science) and Professor of Biomedical Modelling & Director of EPSRC Centre for Predictive Modelling in Healthcare. At the University of Exeter, they were responsible for promoting a culture of bidding for and winning competitively assessed research funding. John increased research awards from a rolling 12month average of £4M to nearly £8M over 2.5 years. A secondary responsibility was for assessing quality of research outputs and impact arising from research and creating an environment that enabled mathematics research to thrive.

John Terry’s work has had a significant impact on the field of biomedical modelling and healthcare. John has been recognised with numerous awards and accolades throughout their career.

John Terry studied mathematics at the University of Reading, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree. John then went on to study physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology, before completing a Doctor of Philosophy in mathematics at the University of Surrey.
