A comprehensive eye examination is necessary for the 21st century, and the COVID pandemic has made it crystal clear that we have to master this technology sooner than later.

At Neuroptek, we have invented a revolutionary technology, including a device and software, i.e. EyeMirage (patent pending), to use smartphones reliably for comprehensive vision and eye movement testing. We aim to bring eye examination to the comfort of patients’ homes in rural and urban areas. In less than 15 minutes, you will have a home examination of your vision and eye movement. COVID pandemic showed the importance of virtual doctor visits and assessments. Although we do not recommend that all examinations be virtual, virtual examination, particularly eye examination, must be available and accurate.

Advantages of virtual eye examination:

Eye specialists are not available in many rural areas. Even in some large cities, highly specialized eye doctors are not available. For example, there is no neuro-ophthalmologist in some provinces in Canada, states in the United States of America or even countries in the Middle East, Africa or South America. Many patients suffer from diseases that require subspecialized eye care which is not available to them. In developed countries, the governments and the taxpayers spend hundreds of thousands of dollars moving patients to big cities for eye examinations, sometimes vision and life-saving.

Internet coverage is almost global now and in developed countries is above 95%. Therefore, the foundation for virtual eye examination already exists all over the world.

Globally, over 3 billion people were using smartphones in 2020. This large number indicates that most people generally know how to operate smartphones, handle the EyeMirage, and run a reliable eye examination at home, demonstrating the feasibility and accessibility of this technology.
