Nick Hargus, PhD

Nick Hargus, PhD has extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. In 2022, they joined Neuros Medical, Inc. as the Vice President of Clinical and Medical Affairs. Prior to that, they served as the Vice President of Medical Affairs at the same company.

From 2014 to 2022, Nick worked at Cardiovascular Systems, Inc. in various roles. Before their industry roles, Nick was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Minnesota from 2011 to 2014. There, they conducted research in the Department of Pharmacology, exploring changes in synapse formation and maintenance after exposure to neurotoxic HIV-1 proteins.

Earlier in their career, Nick pursued their PhD in Neuroscience at the University of Virginia from 2005 to 2011. Their research focused on intrinsic and synaptic hyperexcitability in hippocampal neurons in temporal lobe epilepsy. Nick utilized techniques such as whole-cell patch clamp electrophysiology, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, and qPCR.

In 2004, Nick worked as a Post-Baccalaureate Fellow at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), where they conducted research on the purification of proteins, affinity purification of antibodies, and PCR cloning of Drosophila genes for expression.
